Camp Mani-Toebeans is Manitoba's only annual furry adult nature retreat.

At the edge of Manitoba's Clear Lake, animals of all stripes and spots rosettes will gather to roast things over fire, trample the underbrush, and swim in the pristine waters.

Our mascot Lydia, an arctic fox lady with grey fur and red highlights, is decked out in survival gear and is giving the thumbs-up. We bring furries together from across the country to one of the most central locations in Canada, to share the wilderness that calls to our feral hearts! (What we mean is that we stole the idea for our event from Camp Feral!) We invite you to join the fun and games, so check out our scheduled activities below:

Non-Scheduled Activities

Don't let us tell you how to enjoy your camping experience! Here are some other activities you can partake in around the camp.

Swimming: Camp Wasaga has some lovely beachfront complete with a dock. Always be sure to swim with a buddy and know your limits in the water.

Canoeing/Kayaking: Another way to explore the lake, canoes and kayaks will be available for use. Camp staff will be happy to instruct you to use them safely.

Hiking: Camp Wasaga is surrounded by a lovely wooded area, or if you're looking for adventure, the town of Wasagaming is a 30 minute hike away. Be sure to hike with a friend and always practice Leave No Trace.

Packing List

We want to be sure you're prepared to take in all that Camp Mani-Toebeans has to offer! Here are some items you will need.

Personal: You'll need a proper photo ID to verify your age and identity. Make sure to also remember your fursona badges and other personal flair. (Please be aware that laminated art can get bent or damaged during physical activities.) You can bring some cash for the con store, which will have some Mani-Toebeans merchandise and some other kinds of drinks and snacks.

Bedding: While you'll be provided with a comfy cabin and bed, you'll need to bring your own bedding. A sleeping bag and pillow should serve you well.

*An extra note about the beds! While your inner child may be alive, well, and ready for summer camp, your outer adult body may not find the mattresses provided by the camp quite to your desired level of comfort. Consider bringing a sleeping pad or mattress topper for extra cushion!*

Towels: For both showering and swimming!

Toiletries: This includes your basics like soap, shampoo, and deodorant, but also camping-specific items like insect repellent and sunscreen.

Clothing: Our prairie weather can be unpredictable, so we encourage you to prepare for rain or shine. Some sturdy walking or hiking shoes are a must for outdoor games, warmer clothing for evening activities, a swimsuit, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.

Beverages: While food is provided for the duration of the camp, any specific beverages you like can be brought with you. (Soda, sports drinks, etc.) Alcoholic beverages are not provided, so you must supply your own. A reusable water bottle is a great way to carry your thirst-quenching liquids.

Camper Conduct

We at Camp Mani-Toebeans want to make sure things go off without a hitch, so we've written these rules so we can all respect the camp and our fellow campers.

CAMPER AGREEMENT

All campers agree to the following during registration:

You agree to abide by the rules set out by Perogus Vulpes Inc and the Camp Mani-Toebeans staff on the "info" page or in any other official written material, and by Camp Wasaga and their staff, and in future by the staff of any other camp at which Camp Mani-Toebeans is to be held. You are 18 years of age or greater. You agree to treat with respect all staff, attendees, and guests of Camp Mani-Toebeans and their camp partners. In the event that Camp Mani-Toebeans staff determine you're in breach of this agreement, we retain the right to suspend your registration, with a refund given only if the suspension is enacted more than two weeks before the date of the event for which you have registered.

WAIVER

  • All outdoor activities carry some inherent risk to your wellbeing, so you will need to sign our waiver before being allowed to attend. It is a good idea to read it before you register.

ILLNESS

  • Please make sure you're up to date on vaccinations. This keeps all of us safer by slowing the spread of infections.
  • Please don't attend camp if you're feeling sick. If you catch something a few days before September 1st, please let us know immediately. We're trying to offer emergency refunds for anyone who gets sick, if at all possible.

LAW

  • Federal and Provincial law should always be followed.

DRINKING, SMOKING, & VAPOURS

  • Because of the nature of the camp, and the expectation that there will be drinking, we ask that attendees be 18 years of age or older; Manitoba’s legal drinking age.
  • You may bring your own alcohol, but please be wary that glass bottles may break and harm barefoot campers. Please make use of plastic or other reusable containers to store and move your liquids.
  • Know your limits. Be RESPONSIBLE with your drinking and know that some activities at camp are certainly unsafe after drinking. We want you to be safe, and we want you to be happy. However, if you’re too sloshed to remember the fun, we will escort you back to your bed and insist you take a couple sips of water and maybe have something to eat. Hospitals are a long drive away.
  • Please refrain from wearing artificial scents. Some people will experience allergic reactions from most perfumes. Avoid products with "fragrance" or "parfum" listed in the ingredients.
  • If you are a smoker, please do not litter; discard your finished smokables into appropriate receptacles or in fire pits.
  • While marijuana is legal in Canada, please be mindful that some campers are incredibly sensitive to it. Also be mindful that traveling over the border with cannabis products can get you in a ton of trouble with law enforcement. Please familiarize yourself with Canadian substance transportation laws.
  • Please avoid wooded areas or other flammable areas when using lighters. Keep your smoking to the gravel parking lot, fire pit, or open grassy areas.
  • Be mindful of other campers who don't well tolerate smoke and vapours. If the area is busy, please step back a few feet and mind the direction of the wind, or save it for later.
  • Other unprescribed narcotics are a huge no-no! If they aren’t yours, or if they’re known to be dangerous and illegal to own or share, camp staff will inform authorities.

WEAPONS

  • Absolutely no weapons or replicas at the camp. This includes knives, swords, airsoft guns, etc.. We don’t want people getting hurt, and hospitals aren’t nearby in the event you or someone else gets hurt.
  • Leave the foam-dart guns at home. The foam darts have a habit of getting lost, which is littering and potentially harmful to local wildlife. Water-guns, on the other hand, are acceptable.
  • Boffer weapons, which are used in LARP, are acceptable so long as they’re clearly foam. To guarantee that no one will get hurt with one you bring, we ask that you hit yourself with it in front of staff.

WILDLIFE

  • Don’t feed the WILD animals. Seriously, don’t. They’re not registered campers. They can go find their own food.
  • In fact, don’t approach them or invite them to join the fun. They didn’t pay!

FLORA

  • Any of the trails inside the national park are on protected land, so don't stray from the path or damage the plants.
  • Camp Wasaga asks that campers don't forage for berries in the woods.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

Lydia the fox is seen dropping an empty soda can onto the pristine green grass, even though a garbage bin is available to her no more than two metres away. Behind her, a dark figure looms in the bushes. Upon noticing this disgrace to nature, he exclaims in surprise and decides that Lydia must die.
  • Please be mindful of how loud your outside voices really are, especially at night! Being kept up all night by someone else’s yelling is not fun, but we understand that some people prefer the night, awoo. Please tone down the volume of your voice after midnight, please.
  • Violence, threats of violence, or anything breaking the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms will not be tolerated, period. If you are subject to such violations, or are concerned with the safety and well-being of yourself or another camper, please tell staff.
  • If you've suffered abuse from a staff member, tell the other staff as soon as possible. It is our duty to take these reports seriously and to involve law enforcement.
  • Vandalism and graffiti will not be tolerated. We’re all guests of the camp, and we need to leave it the same or even cleaner than how we found it. Don’t carve your initials into things.
  • Campground safety should always be observed, and the rules of the camp we attend will be addressed at opening ceremonies.
